They Bring the Ideas. You Help Make the Experience Possible

Imagine being the person who welcomes a nervous team, listens as students explain an idea they’ve spent weeks developing, or cheers when their robot finally does what they programmed it to do. Those moments matter—and volunteers help create them.

At our two Quad Cities FIRST LEGO League Qualifiers, students bring their research, robot designs, and problem-solving skills to a day of competition and discovery. Behind every team’s work are opportunities to build confidence, learn from setbacks, and see themselves as people whose ideas have value. A volunteer who takes an interest, asks a thoughtful question, or offers encouragement can help make that learning stay with them long after the event.

No experience is needed—just a passion for helping students and our communities. You don’t need an engineering background or knowledge of robotics. We welcome people with a wide range of interests and skills, with training provided where needed. Whether you enjoy welcoming people, organizing activities, listening to students share their work, or being close to the competition, there are meaningful ways to contribute.

These events bring students, educators, families, and community members together. Volunteering is a chance to share your time, discover what local students are working on, and help them experience a community that supports their curiosity and effort.
