Over 200 local professionals from industry, education, and government hold membership in the Illinois-Iowa section of the American Chemical Society. This
section includes the Illinois counties of Bureau, Carroll, Henry, Henderson, JoDavies, Mercer, Rock Island, Warren, and Whiteside; and the Iowa counties of
Clinton, Dubuque, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott. We are committed to public outreach and have provided funding for traveling demonstration programs,
elementary science programs, teacher grants, The Bettendorf Children's Museum project, National Chemistry Week activities, and Chemistry Olympiad activities.
The section received national recognition for its activities in 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997.

The objectives of the Society are to encourage the advancement of chemistry, to support research in chemical science and industry, to enhance the qualifications and usefulness of chemists, to disseminate chemical knowledge, and to promote scientific interests and inquiry.
