SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED AT ENGINEERS WEEK BANQUET
Davenport, Iowa - The Quad City Engineering and Science Council presented the following scholarship for $3,000 at the 46th Annual National Engineers Week Banquet held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Putnam Museum & IMAX Theatre in conjunction with the Leonardo Da Vinci Man – Inventor – Genius Exhibition.

Brett Ebert - Davenport Assumption High School Brett Ebert is a senior at Assumption High School in Davenport with an ACT of 35, GPA of 4.173, and is ranked 1st in his class. He plans to major in mechanical engineering at Iowa State University with the desire to design airplanes or cars. He is the son of Chris and Jan Ebert of Davenport. Brett is very active in numerous activities in terms of academics, sports, and in the community. These include Boy Scouts of America, co-captain of Central High School's swim team, Section Leader in Band, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), cross country, tennis, jazz band, usher at church, and drummer in his personal band. Some of his achievements include: Eagle Scout and three palms after achieving rank of Eagle, 2008 Des Moines Register Academic All-State Team finalist (1 of the top 10 students in Iowa), State of Iowa Scholar, school winner of Wendy’s High School Heisman Award, Davenport Junior Rotarian, attendee at 2007 Iowa Boys State camp, 2008 Presidential Scholars Program candidate, Academic All- State for Cross Country, and Academic All-American for Swimming. |
