SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED AT ENGINEERS WEEK BANQUET

Bettendorf, Iowa -  The Quad City Engineering and Science Council presented the following scholarships at the 45th Annual National Engineers Week Banquet held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at at The Lodge Hotel and Conference Center.

Eric Anderson - Davenport Central High School

Eric Anderson is from Davenport Central High School with an ACT of 34 and a GPA of 4.0. Eric ranks first in his class of 368 at Central. His parents are Stephen Anderson and Rowen Schussheim-Anderson.

Eric has been active in numerous activities including, news editor and editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, student council as a senior class officer, president and founder of the Math Club, a founding member of the Scholastic Bowl team, and a four-year member of the tennis team. He teaches a level one Hebrew class at Temple Emanuel. Eric plan to major in biomedical engineering at the university level and his current research interests are in the fields of neuroengineering and injury biomechanics.

 

 

James Almblade - Illinois Math and Science Academy

James Almblade attends the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) in Aurora Illinois. He has an ACT of 32. His parents are Gary and Joanne Almblade. At IMSA he is active in the mentoring program and through this program has worked with Professor Vitali Metlushko at U of I Chicago on computer chip technology improvements. James is currently working on a project at Northwestern University.

James is active in campus clubs, and is the founder of the Coffee Club and a member of the Medical ethics Club. He has been active in the QCA community through his volunteer work at Genesis Hospital in East Moline. James plans to study Materials Engineering and hopes to eventually obtain a PhD in that area.
