AWARDS ANNOUNCED AT ENGINEERS WEEK BANQUET

Bettendorf, IA -- The Quad City Engineering and Science Council presented the following awards at the 39th Annual National Engineers Week Banquet held on Friday, February 23, 2001 at Jumer’s Castle Lodge in Bettendorf.

Junior Engineer of the Year:

JASON J. HARDER, a Project Manager, at McClure Engineering Associates, Inc. since 1995, has worked on a wide variety of civil engineering projects. His daily responsibilities, in part, include the direction of design and survey staff as projects dictate, at times located in both the East Moline, Illinois and Davenport, Iowa offices. One of his biggest professional achievements and challenges in 2000 was as Project Manager of the East Moline Riverfront Development Project. This project consists of 6,000 l.f. of scenic parkway, over 7,000 l.f. of multi-use path, over 2,000 l.f. of sanitary sewer, over 6,000 l.f. of water main, 100,000 c.y. of earthwork grading, 12+ acres of private site development, wetland mitigation, brownfield clean-up, hydraulic mitigation, and archeological phase I coordination. Jason is also an active member of his community, serving as a volunteer fire fighter for the City of Blue Grass, Iowa. His commitment to the fire department extends above and beyond the call to volunteer as a fire fighter, also serving on a committee to oversee improvements to the fire station. Mr. Harder was nominated for this award by the Society of American Military Engineers.

 

Senior Engineer of the Year:

John Kincaid was recognized for the Senior Engineer of the Year honor. Mr. Kincaid received his BS in Civil Engineering in 1980 and MS in Engineering in 1985 from the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Kincaid has been the Rock Island Corps of Engineers District’s foremost employee responsible for implementing Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD). Under his leadership and vision, the District has been a leader in the Army Corps of Engineers in integrating this new technology into the work place. He has supervised the procurement and installation of the Engineering Division’s CADD network, a virtual vault web page containing archived hand-drafted engineering drawings, the development of District-wide GIS database and web page, the development of the Electronic Bid Set (EBS) process for contract solicitationworkstations, servers, software, and plotters. He has provided for training opportunities for District engineers and technicians to become trained on the application of CADD. Mr. Kincaid has also represented the District on a variety of national advisory and work groups. The CADD committees on which he has provided service include the Tri-Service (Army, Navy, Air Force) Systems Field Working Group, the Corps System Field Action CADD Group, and the Corps Senior Advisory CADD Group. Mr. Kincaid was nominated for this award by the Society of American Military Engineers.

Matthew Benson from the American Nuclear Society (ANS), Quad Cities Branch was presented the President’s Special Service Award for acknowledgment of his contributions to the Council and the Technical Community in the Quad Cities.  Matthew is a Past President of the QCESC and currently serving as Director II.

 

 

 

 

The Quad City Engineering and Science Council is an umbrella organization representing 34 technical societies and organizations in the Quad City area with approximately 6,000 associated members. The QCESC is in it's 39th year of operation and is a non-profit organization.
